On May 19, 1536 Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII, was beheaded at the Tower of London for the alleged crimes of three instances of adultery and one of incest with her brother Lord Rocheford, all baseless charges trumped up by her enemies who took advantage of the king’s new fancy for another woman at court. The whole intrigue, from the time of her arrest to her execution, spanned less than three weeks.
